A Successfully Organized Event by ALSA: LL.M. Careers and J.D. Transfer Panel Attracts Significant Interest

The Advanced Legal Studies Association (ALSA) hosted the “LL.M. Unlocked! Careers & J.D. Transfer” event at the University of California, Davis School of Law, drawing great interest. Held on Tuesday, November 19, in Room 1002, the event provided LL.M. students with a unique opportunity to explore post-graduation career options and gain insights into the process of transitioning to a J.D. program.

The event began with opening remarks by Dean Professor Greenwood and Professor John Morrin, who emphasized the diversity in the legal profession, the advantages of an LL.M. degree, and the significance of the J.D. transfer process.

 

The panel featured distinguished speakers who shared their experiences and career journeys after completing an LL.M.:

  • Professor Patricia Wenck Riberio: An Associate Attorney at Angius & Terry LLP, Professor Patricia shared her valuable experiences transitioning from an LL.M. program to working at a prestigious law firm.
  • Katharine Wang: A BSA Lead Analyst, Katharine offered insights into transitioning from academia to professional roles and provided valuable advice.
  • Khayotbek Ergashkhonov: Practicing contract law at Dreams Logistics while establishing his own business in the U.S., Khayotbek shared his entrepreneurial and legal journey.
  • Dolph Li: Dolph discussed his experience transitioning to a J.D. program during his LL.M. studies and shared his successful strategies for passing the California Bar Exam.
  • Shivanjali Shukla: A Graduate Legal Assistant at the California Franchise Tax Board, Shivanjali shared her experience building a career in the public sector.

Participants had the opportunity to ask speakers questions about career opportunities after an LL.M., networking strategies, and the J.D. transfer process. A complimentary lunch was provided, and the event concluded with great appreciation from the attendees.

The event was organized by President Dr. Dovran Orazgylyjov and his diverse and dedicated team. The event was expertly moderated by ALSA Secretary General Elay Soltanahmadi.
