With all its distinctive features, the country continues to welcome international visitors with its tranquil atmosphere, vibrant cities, rich cultural heritage and well-established tourism infrastructure. From the vibrant city bridging two continents, İstanbul, to the world-renowned fairy chimneys of Cappadocia and the sun-soaked shores of Antalya, daily life and tourism continue as usual across Türkiye’s iconic destinations. Easily accessible from across the world, Türkiye also remains a key hub for international major global events. A very dynamic calendar of international meetings and conferences, large-scale concerts, and major sporting events—particularly in İstanbul—is set to further energise Türkiye’s tourism landscape this year, showcasing the country’s appeal as a lively and reliable destination for travellers worldwide.

İstanbul: The Beating Heart of Türkiye’s Event Scene
When it comes to major events in Türkiye, the first city that comes to mind is, hands down, İstanbul. Easily accessible via direct flights from the world’s major hubs, the lively metropolis also serves as a haven for culture, arts, sports, and large-scale events. This year, various planned events demonstrate that the city’s spirit remains as strong as ever. From April through the end of the year, İstanbul’s signature cultural and arts events, such as the İstanbul Film Festival, Contemporary İstanbul, Akbank Jazz Festival, İstanbul Theatre Festival, İstanbul Music Festival, and İstanbul Jazz Festival, will welcome art and culture enthusiasts with new editions.

In addition to these events, live music remains at the forefront of İstanbul’s dynamic arts scene, with global stars set to perform across the city throughout the 2026 season. Highlights include Andrea Bocelli and Kanye West (YE) in May, Scorpions and Pet Shop Boys in June, Gorillaz in July, and The Black Keys in September. Throughout the year, sports events will also capture attention, including the UEFA Europa League Final in May, the Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race in August, the 2026 Women’s European Volleyball Championship in August-September, the Tour of İstanbul and L’Étape Türkiye by Tour de France in September, and the Presidential International Yacht Race between October and November.
From Festivals to Sports: A Season of Celebration on Turquoise Coasts
Additionally, from the fairyland of Cappadocia to the Turkish Riviera’s Antalya, various other destinations offer visitors a wide range of events. In particular, the Culture Route Festivals, a member of the European Festivals Association (EFA), are preparing for their 6th edition this year, which will bring culture and art to everyone over the course of 8 months. The world’s largest festival will kick off in April in Şanlıurfa and conclude in November in Adana, spanning 26 cities.

One of the standout destinations for its iconic events is the enchanting city of Antalya, with its mild year-round climate and diverse offerings ranging from ancient cities to gastronomy. In addition to cultural events such as the world-renowned Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival, the city will also host major gatherings this November, including the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) and the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC). The city, known for its many sports opportunities, from the golf courses in Belek to cycling paths, will also host numerous sporting events. Highlights include the Tour of Antalya cycling race, the Runtalya Marathon, and the Turkish Airlines Open golf tournament.
Muğla, located where the Mediterranean and the Aegean meet, is another destination offering a wide range of events. The city’s luxury epitome, Bodrum, stands out with the International Bodrum Jazz Festival in June, bringing summer nights to life, while Marmaris and Fethiye offer sports enthusiasts a journey from blue to green with their Ultra Trail events in April. Meanwhile, İzmir, the pearl of the Aegean, is vibrant this year with cultural and artistic events. In addition to performances such as the Chris Isaak concert in June, the popular Alaçatı Herb Festival, held every spring on the Çeşme Peninsula, celebrates the region’s wild greenery and local culinary traditions.
