The head of MFA of Turkmenistan held talks with the President of the EBRD

On 25 February 2026, in the afternoon, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Ms. Odile Renaud-Basso.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to expanding financial and investment cooperation and implementing joint projects.

Minister Meredov noted that, in implementing its economic development strategy, Turkmenistan attaches special importance to strengthening international partnerships, including enhancing cooperation with reputable financial institutions and banking structures. In this regard, the effective nature of the country’s long-standing cooperation with the EBRD was emphasized.

The President of the Bank confirmed the institution’s interest in further expanding mutually beneficial contacts.

Particular attention was given to the implementation of projects aimed at developing the international East-West transport corridor. The Turkmen side expressed readiness to consider specific EBRD proposals for participation in initiatives in this direction.

Among the priorities identified was also the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector. In this context, the broad opportunities for EBRD participation in ongoing sustainable energy projects were noted.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the continued progressive development of bilateral cooperation and exchanged best wishes.
