A bilateral meeting was held in the administrative building of the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan, led by Minister Mammet Akmammedov and attended by representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The meeting agenda included the following key issues:

Infrastructure Development: Discussing opportunities for cooperation in the development and modernization of Turkmenistan’s railway infrastructure.

Digitalization & Transparency: Exploring EIB financing for the modernization of the digital railway system, emphasizing freight transparency and eliminating barriers to improve connectivity and transit potential.

Increased Capacity: Considering a potential loan from the EIB to the railway administration of Turkmenistan to increase freight throughput capacity.

Procurement & Fleet Maintenance: Discussing credit facilities for the purchase of spare parts for railcars, diesel locomotives, and communication equipment.
Additionally, as part of technical assistance for infrastructure projects, the parties discussed the possibility of attracting credit funds for the modernization of the existing Ashgabat — Dashoguz railway line, as well as the provision of grant funds for the preparation of a Feasibility Study (FS).
