Turkmenistan and Iran intensify interregional cooperation

On November 5, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov met with Governor of North Khorasan Province of the Islamic Republic of Iran Bahman Nouri.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran.

The interlocutors noted the high level of bilateral relations, which is reinforced by the systematic and dynamic nature of contacts at the highest level.

During the talks, mutual interest was noted in intensifying interregional cooperation, including within the framework of the previously signed Memorandum of mutual understanding between the Akhal Velayat and the North Khorasan Province.

The parties discussed in detail issues related to the development and expansion of cooperation between the Akhal velayat of Turkmenistan and the North Khorasan province of Iran in the trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. In this regard, proposals were put forward aimed at expanding cooperation in promising and mutually beneficial areas.

As part of the visit, the delegation headed by the governor of North Khorasan Province is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with the leadership of the Akhal velayat and relevant ministries and departments.
