Turkmenistan takes part in the 3rd CIS games in Azerbaijan

On September 28, 2025, the official opening of the III Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games took place at the city stadium in Ganja, Azerbaijan, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The competition will be held from September 28 to October 8, 2025, in Azerbaijan at 12 sports venues in eight cities, including Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol, and Khankendi.

Turkmenistan is actively participating in this major sporting forum, presenting a national delegation of approximately 50 athletes who will compete in various disciplines with athletes from 12 countries. National athletes will compete in a number of disciplines, including wrestling, judo, sambo, swimming, gymnastics, team sports, and others.

The participation of the Turkmenistan national team at the CIS Games is an important step in the development of Turkmen sport and a confirmation of the country’s commitment to international sports cooperation. This is also an opportunity for Turkmen athletes to demonstrate a high level of training, strengthen international sports ties, and achieve new achievements.

The 3rd CIS Games brought together more than 1,620 athletes from 13 countries. The Games program included 23 sports and 246 medal events. The goal of the Games is to develop sports, strengthen friendship and cooperation between countries, and promote a healthy lifestyle among young people.
