On the meeting with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia

On August 7, 2025, on the sidelines of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov met with the delegation of the European Union led by the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields between Turkmenistan and the EU.

The importance of contacts at the highest and high levels in promoting cooperation, both in bilateral and multilateral formats, was noted.

The parties noted the importance of the first Central Asia–European Union Summit, which took place in April of this year.

In addition, the parties discussed cooperation within the framework of the EU Global Gateway strategy, including the development of energy and transport corridors, digitalization, and others.

The parties noted with satisfaction the effectiveness of the systematic work of the Turkmenistan-EU Joint Committee, the Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue and other cooperation mechanisms.

The EU delegation expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for its hospitality and noted the high level of organization of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
