On November 22, 2024, Tbilisi hosted the opening of the Days of Turkmen Cinema organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia together with the Georgian Film Academy. Movies of “Turkmenfilm” Association named after Oguzkhan are presented for screening. The Days of Turkmen Cinema are held within the framework of celebrating the 300th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher of the East, Magtymguly Fragi.
The event was attended by representatives of ministries and agencies of Georgia, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Georgia, representatives of scientific and creative intellectuals, media, as well as students.
The event opened with the screening of the film “Сomposer”, directed by Maksat Gylyjov. It was emphasized that the film was created with the direct support of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children inin Need of Guardianship
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan in Georgia Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov, President of the Georgian Film Academy Nikoloz Abramishvili, as well as cultural figure, film scholar Dali Okropiridze addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
In his address, the Ambassador thanked the Georgian Film Academy for its assistance in organizing and holding the Days of Turkmen Cinema in Georgia. He noted that today cinema plays an important role in the modern society and emphasized that the screening of Turkmen films will be another step towards the rapprochement of the cultures of Turkmenistan and Georgia.
In turn, D. Okropiridze thanked the government of Turkmenistan for the wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the Turkmen cinema and expressed readiness to deepen the intercultural dialogue.
The event will also feature the films “Istärin” directed by Arslan Eyeberdyev and “Red Kurte” directed by Sahysalyh Bayramov. The screening of the Turkmen films will continue until November 24, 2024.
