Meeting with representatives of the Turkmen diaspora

A significant meeting with representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, dedicated to the celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States on October 5, 2024. Important areas of the country’s development, reflected in the decisions taken at the recent meeting of the Halk Maslahaty, were discussed during the meeting.

The Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Azat Atayev, noted the importance of celebrating Independence Day, emphasizing that Turkmenistan’s achievements in recent years have been possible thanks to an effective strategy implemented under the leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. In particular, Atayev emphasized the need to continue reforms in the field of education and to improve the accreditation procedures for universities in accordance with international standards, which was also discussed with representatives of the US education system.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the United States, Meret Orazow, emphasized in his speech that the 33rd anniversary of the country’s independence symbolizes a new stage in the development of Turkmenistan. He noted that the program documents adopted at the session of Halk Maslahaty are aimed at improving the socio-economic living conditions of citizens, strengthening infrastructure, and developing international cooperation, which makes such celebrations especially important for the consolidation of society and its ties with the homeland. The Vice-Rector of the Institute of International Relations, Begench Myatliyev, spoke about how the programs initiated during the celebration help in strengthening ties in the field of education, including the launch of joint educational programs and participation in international scientific projects.

The representatives of the diaspora expressed their sincere gratitude to the National Leader and the President of Turkmenistan for their contribution to the development of the state and the creation of conditions for the country’s integration into the world community. It was noted that the decisions taken at Halk Maslahaty have an important impact on the further growth and stability of Turkmenistan. In addition, the participants of the meeting discussed the events dedicated to the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and philosopher of the East Magtymguly Pyragy, and expressed their readiness for further active cooperation and support for cultural and educational initiatives carried out under the leadership of the national leader and the President of Turkmenistan. Thus, the meeting at the embassy became an important platform for discussing key areas of the country’s development, current and future initiatives, as well as the role of the Turkmen diaspora in their implementation.
