Meeting of the delegation of Turkmenistan with the representatives of the Turkmenistan-USA Business Council

On February 12, 2024, the Turkmen delegation met with the leadership of the Turkmenistan-USA Business Council. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the United States M.Orazov, Head of the Department of American countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ambassador Ch.Ataev, Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Council, as well as representatives of major American companies-members of the Council, in particular “John Deere”, “Case New Holland”, “Boeing”, “Exxon Mobil”, “General Electric”, “Climate Compass”, “Zeppelin”, “UGT Renewable”, “Caterpillar”, “Oxbow” and “Honeywell”.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of cooperation between Turkmenistan and US companies, as well as organizational and practical aspects of the plan of joint activities proposed by the Council for the current year. The need to diversify the economic partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States was emphasized, in which a special place is given to the investment, financial-banking, agricultural, oil and gas, transport and logistics and technological spheres. The sides exchanged views on organizing the visit of a representative American business delegation to Turkmenistan this year.

During the meeting, E. Stewart emphasized that bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the United States have reached a new level. Turkmenistan’s joining an international commitment to reduce methane emissions last year generated a very positive response in the American business community.

The Turkmen side emphasized the importance of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council in the development of mutually beneficial ties between the two countries. In this context, E.Stewart noted the visit of the business delegation to Turkmenistan last December, during which the Business Forum was successfully held. He also emphasized the constructive meeting with the President of Turkmenistan.

In the course of the talks, the Turkmen side expressed the commitment of the Government of Turkmenistan to expand trade and economic cooperation with business entities of the United States. At the same time, they emphasized the long-standing positive contribution of American companies to various spheres of the Turkmen economy.

In general the leadership of the Council, as well as representatives of American companies, noted with satisfaction the practice of regular productive dialog and proposals on new directions of cooperation.
