On 31 January 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan in Georgia Mr. Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov met with the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia Mr. Roin Metreveli.
The aim of the meeting was to develop and strengthen ties between Turkmenistan and Georgia in the sphere of scientific activity.The Parties familiarized themselves with the reforms and achievements in the academic system in their countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador D. Seyitmammedov noted that this year the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi is solemnly celebrated at the international level, adding that the motto of 2024 in Turkmenistan – “Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi” is connected with this anniversary date.
The Ambassador emphasized that numerous events are planned for this significant event both in Turkmenistan and abroad. In turn, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia expressed readiness for further cooperation and proposed to hold an international conference dedicated to Magtymguly Fragi. Roin Metreveli expressed confidence that such events would promote further study and wide popularization of the rich literary heritage of the great Turkmen poet-philosopher Magtymguly Fragiin the world, as well as strengthening of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The parties also agreed to develop cooperation between scientists of the Academies of Sciences of the two countries, to hold joint scientific events, as well as to continue the implementation of the academic mobility programme.
