First Ever U.S. Embassy ECO festival takes place in Turkmenabat

On April 22, the U.S. Embassy organized the first-ever Eco-Festival in Turkmenabat to celebrate Earth Day.  The event, which took place in at Turkmenabat Bitaraplyk park, was free and open to the public. After the opening ceremony, visitors enjoyed several activity booths, including art, education, technology, and cultural activities.

In his opening remarks, U.S. Ambassador Matthew Klimow stressed the importance of individuals taking action to protect the environment in their daily lives. He acknowledged global environmental challenges including climate change, loss of biodiversity, pollution, and waste, but underscored that every action counts, no matter how small. Ambassador Klimow also highlighted the importance of recycling and reducing waste, encouraging everyone to recycle to contribute to a more sustainable future.

“This event is a global reminder of the importance of protecting our planet and preserving its natural resources. It is a day to reflect on our relationship with the environment and to recommit ourselves to protecting it through action,” Ambassador Klimow stated. “In the spirit of the Eco-Festival, I challenge you to do one thing today to protect our environment. Let us all do our part to protect our planet and keep it healthy for generations to come.”

This event was organized by the U.S. Embassy and the Turkmenabat American Corner in coordination with the Government of Turkmenistan and Hakimlik of Turkmenabat.
