Humanitarian assistance from Turkmenistan arrives in Karachi for flood affectees

The first humanitarian assistance flight from Turkmenistan landed on Monday morning at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi carrying much needed relief assistance including medicine and medical equipment for flood affectees.

The flight was received by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan Atadjan Movlamov, the Sindh Chief Minister’s Advisor on Relief and Rehabilitation Rasool Bux Chandio, representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

In a statement, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that the relief assistance from Turkmenistan is welcomed with warmth and gratitude.

The special cargo flight from Turkmenistan to Pakistan was carrying humanitarian aid in the amount of tons of relief goods including textile items, clothing, blankets, food products, clean drinking water, medicines, medical supplies, and other items.
“This humanitarian cargo flight is another confirmation of our nations’ friendly and brotherly relations,” President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
The Turkmen president also sent his condolence messages to the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, saying that “We are extremely saddened by the large-scale damages caused by the devastating floods in Pakistan.”
“I would like to express the solidarity of the people and government of Turkmenistan with the people and government of Pakistan. We stand with Pakistan at this challenging time,” he added.
