Political consultations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan were held in Ashgabat

On August 26, 2022, political consultations were held in Ashgabat between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.O. Meredov, the Uzbek delegation – by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan V.I.Norov.

During the consultations, topical issues of bilateral relations were discussed, including in the context of the implementation of previously reached agreements. The high level of relations between the two states, the effective course of cooperation in the international arena were emphasized. The heads of the foreign ministries, noting the importance of interaction within the framework of international organizations, expressed satisfaction with the practice of regular support for international initiatives and proposals of the two states at multilateral platforms.

In the context of the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-economic, Scientific-technical and Cultural Cooperation, the heads of the foreign ministries discussed the issue of organizing a meeting of the Co-Chairs of the commission to analyze the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level, implement the concluded international treaties, develop and agree on a schedule of meetings between the departments of the two countries to implement the provisions of the Protocol of the meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission.

During the consultations, the fruitful activities of the Turkmen-Uzbek Working Group on the development of cooperation in the field of transport and transit, as well as the mixed commission on international road transport were noted.

The heads of the ministries of foreign affairs confirmed their mutual readiness to expand the legal framework of bilateral cooperation, including in the field of consular support for the interests of citizens of the two countries. As a result of political consultations, the final Protocol was signed.

At the end of the political consultations, the ceremony of awarding the representatives of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan with state awards of Turkmenistan was held.

By the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov “for great merits in the development of economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan” Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on foreign policy issues Abdulaziz Khafizovich Kamilov and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Imamovich Norov was awarded the Order of Turkmenistan “Galkynysh”.

The awards were presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

By the Decree of the President of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov was awarded the Order of Uzbekistan “Dostluk”. The award was presented by Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on foreign policy issues Abdulaziz Khafizovich Kamilov.
