The Sixth Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was held in Nur-Sultan city to participate in which the Turkmen delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov arrived in Kazakhstan.
In the framework of the visit, the head of the foreign policy agency of Turkmenistan was received by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of the Turkmen delegation conveyed warm greetings from the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the President of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues of the Turkmen-Kazakh partnership, focusing on the regional and international agenda.
The sides also noted the effectiveness of the meeting between the President of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan at the Consultative meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia, held in Turkmenbashi city on August 2021.
In this context, a number of aspects of the upcoming VI Summit of the Heads of the Caspian States and the 15th high-level meeting of the Heads of States of the Organization for Economic Cooperation were discussed.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of these international events in terms of giving a qualitative impetus to the entire spectrum of the Turkmen-Kazakh strategic partnership.
Then, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov took part in the ministerial meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
Emphasizing the importance of granting Turkmenistan observer status in CICA, Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that Turkmenistan shares the principles and objectives on which the CICA based, namely to achieve peace and security on the Asian continent through political dialogue and cooperation and strengthening common regional and international security.
R.Meredov expressed gratitude to the member states for joint work undertaken during the International Year of Peace and Trust initiated by Turkmenistan and invited them to take an active part in the International Conference «Peace and Trust Policy – Basis of International Security, Stability and Development», which will be held in Ashgabat on December 12, 2021.
The event will sum up the results of the widespread international campaign for the further formation of peaceful and trustful coexistence of peoples, the comprehensive establishment of a culture of peace and trust in international relations, emphasized the head of the Turkmen delegation.
According to him, the Turkmen side proposed to expand CICA interaction with the UN, ECO and other reputable organizations in order to achieve common goals and values. In addition, a number of proposals of the Turkmen side and possible promising areas of joint activities in the main five dimension of the UN were outlined.
