Online meeting with Secretary General of the ECO

A meeting took place via videoconferencing between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Hadi Soleimanpour.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of affairs and priority vectors of collaboration on the platform of the Economic Cooperation Organization. The importance of the contacts on the highest level was emphasized which contributes to the reinforcement of the Organization’s work. The possibilities of intensifying the work of the Economic Cooperation Organization in view of the global challenges were considered.

The parties had similar views on that Turkmenistan already makes a substantial input to the attainment of the goals of the ECO by initiating trade-economic, large-scale transport and energy projects in the region. One of the vivid examples of this is the active role of Turkmenistan in the process of developing vital sectors of neighboring Afghanistan’s economy which include such fields as transport and communications.

Underlining the importance of active dialogue on the ECO platform, the parties highlighted the significance of multilateral collaboration in the process of deepening economic integration.
