Khan Wali Khan Basharmal has been appointed for the new ambassador of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan, reports the Afghanistan.Ru information portal.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, the new ambassador had worked as the Deputy General Administration of the President of Afghanistan before.
The former Afghan Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Najibullah Alikhil, who has held this position since October 2019, has been appointed as Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan.
In addition to appointing a new ambassador to Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan also replaced 12 ambassadors, including in Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and in several other countries. In the near future, the department will present diplomat candidates to the receiving parties to receive an agreman.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan were established on February 26, 1992. The length of the state border between the two countries is 804 kilometers. The Afghan embassy operates in Ashgabat, and the IRA Consulate General operates in Mary.
For many years, Turkmenistan has been providing targeted economic and humanitarian support to the neighboring country. It is expressed in the construction of medical and educational institutions, preferential supplies of electricity, training Afghan students in Turkmen educational institutions, regular dispatch of humanitarian supplies, and other types of assistance.
