South Korea to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan

On June 24, 2020, a meeting was held in the form of a video conference between the Co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation.

During the meeting, the state and prospects of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea were examined. The parties exchanged views, as well as identified concrete steps in order to develop cooperation in a wide range of areas, in particular, in the field of economy and investments.

Speaking about the growth indicators of trade and economic ties, the parties examined the current areas of cooperation in the field of energy, textile industry, shipbuilding and digital technologies. During the talks, they also discussed the possibilities for further development of the activities of Korean companies in Turkmenistan, which are actively involved in projects for the construction and modernization of petrochemical complexes in the country.

The parties noted the positive experience of interaction in the field of health, including the prevention and response to infectious diseases, taking into account the current pandemic situation. The timeliness and effectiveness of the mutual actions taken in this context was emphasized.
