On May 20, 2020, an online meeting of Ministers of Health of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement on the new type of coronavirus pandemic was held at the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
The Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan took part in the event from Turkmen side. During the meeting, a wide range of topical issues of regional and global agenda were discussed, such as consolidation of common efforts in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, which has become a new, extremely serious challenge for the entire world community.
In his speech, the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan informed the members of the NAM Contact Group on measures taken by the Government of Turkmenistan to prevent the entry of dangerous coronavirus into the country, as well as on work being carried out with regional countries on the prevention of infectious and non-communicable diseases. During the speech, it was noted that the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in his speech at the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement on May 4 this year, emphasized that “effective response to the pandemic requires collective action from the entire international community.”
MEETING OF THE MINISTRIES OF HEALTH OF THE CENTRAL ASIA
On May 20, 2020, negotiations in the form of a video conference were held between the heads of the Ministries of Health of the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation with representatives of the European Regional Bureau of the World Health Organization.
During a constructive conversation, the parties discussed practical issues of interaction between the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation with the WHO Regional Office for Europe regarding the current situation in the region and in the world, in connection with the pandemic of a new type of coronovirus. Speaking about the need for coordinated joint action during the pandemic, the issues of prevention and control of especially dangerous infectious diseases were raised.
