Transport cooperation between Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Iran

On May 12, 2020, a meeting through video communication between the heads of the railway ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in the “Turkmendemiryollary” agency (Agency of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan).

The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, in charge of the transport sector B.Ovezov. The Uzbek side was chaired by the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan E.Ganiyev. The delegation of Iran was led by the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran M.Eslami. From the Turkmen side, representatives of a number of ministries and agencies of the country took part in the session.

During the talks, the parties exchanged views on the issues of intensifying and further developing collaboration in the transport sphere, shaping the regional and international transport-communication infrastructure.  The measures and practical steps taken in this regard with the aim of precluding the influence of the pandemic on the development of trade-economic cooperation were considered.
