On April 30, 2020, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif, during which the parties discussed the current state and perspectives of development of bilateral cooperation.
At the same time, the need for rapid implementation of the agreements attained between the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani during the telephone conversation the day before was underlined.
The heads of external policy agencies of two states drew specific attention to the significance of joint work on countering the pandemic.
It was stated in this context that both sides will implement in the nearest future all the necessary measures for the provision of high level sanitary and phytosanitary control, as well as the veterinary inspection with the aim of secure from the epidemiological point of view movement of transport and cargo through the Turkmen-Iranian border.
